Thanksgiving Turkey Gravy
Thanksgiving is one of my favorite times of the year. Nothing better than bringing good memories to your family with some delicious homemade food. Turkey gravy is very easy to make and it goes great with your Thanksgiving Turkey and sides.
Ingredients
½ cup of turkey drippings from your cooked turkey
Turkey Stock
1/2 onion 1 celery stalk 1 carrot 2 tsp salt 1 turkey neck bone 1 turkey tail 8 cups water
(Garlic, Rosemary, Thyme and Sage Optional)
Salt and pepper to taste
Turkey Gravy 3 tbsp unsalted butter 1/2 cup turkey drippings 1/2 cup flour 4 cups of Turkey stock salt and pepper to taste
Strain the turkey drippings and place a half of a cup of the drippings to the side.
Place all of your turkey stock ingredients in a pot. Bring to boil and cook for 20 - 30 minutes
Then strain your turkey stock into a bowl. Take 4 cups out of the bowl for the gravy.
Now to the gravy, in a sauce pan over medium low heat, add the butter and the turkey drippings. Once the drippings and butter have heated up, gradually add the flour little by little.
Be sure to stir consistently. Once all of the flour is in the pan, cook for about 3-5 minutes.
Now gradually add in your turkey stock, and mix in well. It gets thick at first but as you add the stock, it will loosen up.
Once all the stock is in, let it reduce for about 5-8 minutes over medium heat.
Check for seasoning and add to your taste.
Let cool and get ready for your Thanksgiving Dinner.
