Lentil Soup Slow Cooker recipe

Lentil soup is such an easy soup to make. Along with doing it in the slow cooker makes it even easier. This one pot dump and go dish can be made easily on a busy day. It has a wonderful flavor and has some good nutrition to it. I really enjoy recipes like this, it allows me to do what I need to get done and not have to worry about the food. This goes great on a nice cold day.


4 cups chicken broth 2 cups water 1 lbs lentils 14 oz can diced tomatoes 2 carrots chopped 2 celery stalks chopped 1/4 onion chopped 2 cloves garlic minced 1/2 tsp thyme 1/2 tsp marjoram 2 tbsp red wine 1lb Smoked ham chopped

Cooking instructions:

Soak the lentil in tap water for about 2 hours.

In the meantime, prep the ingredients and get them ready for the instant pot or slow cooker.

Once your lentils have soaked, add all of your ingredients along with 1 tsp of salt.

Remember you can always add salt at the end to taste, but you can not reverse over salting.

Place the lid on your Instant pot or slow cooker and set to more or high for 4 hours.

After the 4 hours, scoop a cup of the soup at a time and smash with a spoon. Do this until you get the consistency of the soup you are looking for.

Serve and enjoy!
