Beef and Broccoli is very easy to make, you honestly do not need to order take out. Beef and broccoli can be made in less than 45 mins. It uses simple ingredients and comes out great. If you do not have a wok, get you one because it can make you some good food. I love making different cuisines, and Asian flavors are some of my favorite. This recipe will grow on you, once you make it your family will want it more often.
Beef and Broccoli recipe
1 ½ - 2 lbs of thinly sliced beef (I used Sirloin steaks)
1 large broccoli crown using florets and quartered
4 tbsp soy sauce (2 for marinade and 2 for final results)
2 tbsp rice vinegar (or sake)
1 tbsp minced garlic
2 tbsp corn starch
1 tbsp toasted sesame oil
Lightly season with salt
Black Pepper (white peppercorn is preferred)
After thinly slicing your beef, place in a bowl and add 2 tbsp of soy, rice vinegar, garlic, egg and mix with your hands. After mixing thoroughly, add in half of your corn starch and mix into the beef. Once evenly mixed add the rest of the corn starch and again mix into the beef evenly. Place your marinated beef in the fridge for 30 mins to marinate.
After 25 mins of the beef marinating, add 4 cups of water into your wok and begin to boil. Once the water is boiling, add in your broccoli and cook for 1 min. After the 1 min remove from the water and place on a plate.
Discard the water from the wok and place back on high heat and bring the wok to temp. Add 2 tbsp of olive oil and add your marinated beef into the wok. Season lightly with salt and fresh black pepper. Add 1 tbsp of toasted sesame seed oil and incorporate into the beef.
After about 4-5 minutes of cooking with occasionally stirring, add 2 more tbsp. of soy sauce and add your blanched broccoli into the wok.
Stir well and mix everything up.
Plate and garnish with sesame seeds.
