Fried Chicken is one of my family’s favorite dinners. My kids love it and so do I. I like to make mine spicy, but I have to tone it down a bit for the little ones. This recipe goes great with some mashed potatoes, corn on the cob or even coleslaw. No matter your sides, this main dish will satisfy.
Fried Chicken recipe
4 Chicken thighs and 6 legs
2 cups flour
1 tbsp Salt or to taste
1 tbsp Black Pepper
1 tbsp Garlic Powder
1 tbsp Onion powder
1 tbsp Paprika
1 tsp Cayenne or more for extra kick.
32 oz Buttermilk
Cooking oil to fry in
In a large mixing bowl, add in the flour and all of the seasonings. Mix everything together and make sure it is evenly distributed in the flour.
Preheat your cooking oil to 325 degrees, monitor the temperature with a thermometer.
Place your chicken in the flour mixture, coat well and shake off any excess flour.
Dip the chicken in the butter milk, and place back into the seasoned flour.
Then place the battered chicken into the oil.
For the thighs, cook for 12 minutes per side or until the internal temperature reaches 175 degrees.
For the legs, cook for 8 – 9 minutes per side or until the internal temperature reaches 175 degrees.
Place the cooked chicken in a baking pan with a rack to drip any excess oil.
Serve and Enjoy!
