I love making BBQ Ribs, especially on the smoker or grill. During the hot summer days here in Southern California, it is just too hot to bare the heat. So I cook them in the oven, they come out great with lots of flavor and fall off the bone. You can have some fall off the bone BBQ ribs in about 2 hours. I love my ribs tender with lots of flavor and BBQ sauce. Pair this up with your favorite sides and your family will have a delicious meal.
BBQ Ribs in the oven
You can use Spare ribs, St Louis style Ribs, or Baby Back Ribs
You will need a BBQ Rub (You can purchase mine in the shop section of the website)
Liquid smoke (Hickory or Mesquite)
Your favorite BBQ Sauce
When I prepare the ribs, I like to remove the silver skin on the back of the ribs. I don’t like the texture and chewiness it leaves. Get a spoon and lift the silver skin from the bones and pull off with a napkin.
Apply a small coating of liquid smoke and rub the liquid smoke on the backside of the ribs.
Now apply a liberal coating of BBQ seasoning on the ribs and pat down.
Flip and do the same for the other side.
I like to add a thicker coating of BBQ seasoning on the top of the ribs.
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and cook for 1 hour.
After the 1 hour of cook time, take the ribs and cover with aluminum foil. Be really careful, the pan is hot. Use a towel or oven mittens.
Place the covered ribs back in the oven and let cook for another 30 mins.
Remove the foil after the 30 mins and apply your BBQ sauce. Be careful, the ribs are really tender and the bones will fall out.
I like to apply more sauce on the top to give a thick sticky layer.
Place back in the oven for 15 mins to thicken the sauce on the ribs.
Cut between the bones and serve.
