Apple pie is such a delicious treat. This recipe is so comforting, it is definitely a staple in my recipe folder. If I want something sweet for the holidays or a special occasion, this is it.
6 Granny Smith apple 3/4 cup sugar 2 tbsp flour 1/2 tsp salt 1 tsp vanilla extract 1 tsp cinnamon 1/4 tsp nutmeg 1/2 lemon

Peel and chop your apples and place in a large mixing bowl.
Combine all of your ingredients and mix well.
Place the filling mixture into the fridge for at least 30 minutes.
Place your pie crust on the pie pan and evenly fit it cutting any excess.
Place pie crust in fridge for 30 minutes as well.
Once everything is nice and cold, place the filling in the pie pan.
Cover with the 2nd pie crust, pressing and trimming the edges.
You can fold the dough up or crimp with a fork.
Slice a cross in the middle of the pie.
Baste with egg wash and sprinkle a little sugar right on top.
Place in a preheated oven at 375 degrees F for 50 to 60 mins or until golden brown.
Let cool for a couple of hours. I like to let mine sit over night or at least 4 hours.
Serve and enjoy!
